Improvement of the systems for navigation and topohydrographic measurements along the Danube River – phase 2
Project:
Improvement of the systems for navigation and topohydrographic measurements along the Danube River – phase 2 The project is a phase of the implementation of project Improvement of the systems for navigation and topohydrographic measurements along the Danube River, financed under OP “Transport” 2007 – 2013, included as Activity 4 - “Delivery of a specialized hydrographical surveying vessel”, but not implemented. A new project proposal was submitted under Improvement of the systems for navigation and topohydrographic measurements along the Danube River – phase 2
Project identification number:
BG16M1OP001–4.001. approved for funding on 02.03.2016
Funding programme:
Operational Programme on Transport and Transport Infrastructure 2014 - 2020
Priority area:
IV – „Innovation in management and services – implementation of modernized infrastructure for traffic management, improvement of transport safety and security”
The project objective is delivery of a specialized hydrographical surveying vessel. The delivery of the vessel aims to achieve complete implementation of hydrographic measurements in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section of the Danube river which are necessary for studying the hydromorphological regime of the river. The information gathered will contribute for updating the electronic navigational maps and to forecast changes of the fairway.
Results:
The project aims at improving the conditions for implementing up to date research activities in the river. Providing the surveying vessel and the necessary equipment tends towards the implementation of more extensive and timely geodetic and hydrographic activities in the common Bulgarian-Romanian section of the Danube River. The use of specialized equipment (lidar and multibeam sonar) allows 3D capture and visualization of the terrain (river bed, river terrace, islands).
