The newly delivered hydrographic vessel of the Executive Agency "Exploration and maintenance of the Danube river" (EAEMDR) under the FAIRway Danube project started the implementation of pilot activities, part of which is the carrying out of hydrographic measurements of the river.

The purpose of these measurements is to survey the riverbed and to draw up maps, necessary for the updating of the navigation condition.

Between 17 and  April 2018 the most critical bottlenecks along the Danube river were surveyed (Condura Island, Milka Island and Vardim Island), and as a result - the fairway was modified.

The collected data is published to the fleet operators and is used to plan the dredging works in order to secure the fairway.

APPD reminds that at the end of February, a contract for dredging was signed with a contractor, guaranteeing the necessary intervention.
