The construction of the specialized dredging vessel of the Executive Agency "Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River" has been completed. The agencys new dredger will arrive in Ruse by water, crossing the Rhine-Main-Danube canal. The delivery is part of the project “Modernization and optimization of the maintenance activities in the common BG-RO section of the Danube river through delivery of equipment”. The contractor of the dredger is the Dutch company Damen Shipyard Gorinchem, and its total value is BGN 6,100,000 without VAT.
The facility is expected to arrive in Ruse at the end of March, after which running tests and training of the crew in Bulgarian waters will begin.
The project “Modernization and optimization of the maintenance activities in the common BG-RO section of the Danube river through delivery of equipment” is implemented under the Operational Program "Transport and Transport Infrastructure". Its total value is BGN 20,632,677.38. A pontoon, a split hopper barge and a maneuvering vessel will also be built within its scope.
