The new pontoon, which will be part of the dredging equipment of the Executive Agency "Exploration and maintenance of the Danube river", has arrived in Ruse. The equipment was built at the ATG Giurgiu shipyard in Romania. The pontoon is 34.5 meters long, 11.4 meters wide and is designed to load dredging masses from two dredgers through a floating pipeline.
Its value is BGN 2,345,000. The delivery is part of the project “Modernization and optimization of the maintenance activities in the common BG-RO section of the Danube river through delivery of equipment”, co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Operational Programme "Transport and Transport Infrastructure” 2014–2020 and with funds from the national budget. With it, the Agency will be able to better perform one of its main tasks, namely - maintenance of the waterway in the Bulgarian section of the river. The project also supplies dredgers, split hopper barge, maneuvering vessel and floating pipeline to transport dredged materials. By the end of the year, a maneuvering vessel and a split hopper barge will be delivered, which are currently under construction at the Giurgiu shipyard.
