The newest vessel, which becomes part of the fleet of the EA "Exploration and maintenance of the Danube river" is already in Ruse and tests of the dredging equipment will start in a few days. The maneuvering vessel, which was built in Shipyard ATG Giurgiu will be named "Iskar". The vessel is part of a project to supply specialized equipment for dredging the Danube, which also includes dredger, sediment transport pipes, barge and pontoon. "Iskar" will have a subsidiary function in the use of the dredging equipment. With its help, the pontoon, the barge and Yantra dredger will be able to move to the critical sections, where an adjustment will be needed to ensure the waterway on the Danube in the Bulgarian section of the river.
The total funds for all deliveries under the project “Modernization and optimization of the maintenance activities in the common BG-RO section of the Danube river through delivery of equipment” are BGN 20,632,677.38, and the value of the maneuvering vessel is 5,404,000 BGN without VAT. The project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, through the Operational Programme "Transport and Transport Infrastructure" 2014 - 2020 and with funds from the national budget. The vessel is about to officially receive its name at a ceremony, which will be held in the spring.
