On the 13th of February 2025 the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River (EAEMDR) hosted the first Steering Committee (SCOM) meeting of the DISMAR project, implemented in partnership between EAEMDR and the River Administration of the Lower Danube (AFDJ Galati). The meeting was opened by the agency’s Executive Director, Mr. Ivelin Zanev, who emphasized the project’s significance for improving navigation safety and ensuring better navigation conditions in the common Romanian-Bulgarian section of the river.
The discussion involved representatives of both project partners, local authorities, and other partner organizations from Bulgaria and Romania whose work is related to the river.
During the meeting, the marking plan was presented, which includes the delivery and installation of floating and coastal navigation buoys and signs. Once implemented, this will ensure harmonized marking on both sides of the river.
The DISMAR project, which is a strategic initiative under the INTERREG VI-A Romania – Bulgaria Programme, officially started in April 2024. It also foresees the delivery of two non-propelled vessels that will be used for service and maintenance of coastal signs.
