The progress on the DISMAR project, funded under the INTERREG VI-A Romania–Bulgaria Programme, was reported during a Steering Committee meeting held in middle of November. The meeting was attended by representatives of the two project partners – the Executive Agency for Exploration and Maintenance of the Danube River and the Lower Danube River Administration in Galați, experts from the Programme’s Managing Authority (the Romanian Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration), the Joint Secretariat, as well as representatives of the transport ministries of Bulgaria and Romania.
During the meeting, the completion of the joint information system for monitoring and managing navigation signs in the common Bulgarian–Romanian section of the river was reported. The system has been developed as a part of the project activities.
It was also announced that the delivery of floating navigation signs has begun. The new buoys meet all modern requirements for ensuring better visibility for ship operators. They will be equipped with solar panels and an AIS communication system, allowing them to be tracked in real time through the information system.
